Asbestos Supervisor/ Contractor Course – Five Days (40 Hours)

This EPA/DSHS approved training course is designed for contractors and supervisors involved in asbestos abatement and for those who desire information or certification in dealing with asbestos abatement projects. The course meets the training requirements for licensing as an Abatement Supervisor and Operations and Maintenance Supervisor. This course also satisfies OSHA competent person training requirements. Students gain actual hands-on experience when constructing a decontamination unit, performing glovebag operations, and creating a negative pressure mini-enclosure. A photo identification card and a certificate of completion are presented to each person who successfully completes the course.

Course Requirements \ Information

Certification: Asbestos Supervisor / Contractor

Course Fee: $629 Per Student (Minimum 5 Students)

Duration: 24 Hours

Education / Experience Required:  1 yr. exp. as a lead abatement worker; OR 2 yr. exp. in a related field (e.g. lead, asbestos environmental remediation work) or in the building construction trades.

State Examination: Yes

Function / Duty: Ensure that abatement in target housing and child-occupied facilities is conducted and completed. identify most appropriate action to eliminate hazards; be available at all times during abatement; develops occupant protection plan; assume duties of an abatement worker; prepare a written abatement report; supply and train employees in use of PPE and supervise compliance.

Conditions / Restrictions: Cannot conduct inspections, risk assessments, or hazard screens, or prepare a written abatement project design.
